Papahana Puakahīnano offers keiki and ʻōpio a meaningful opportunity to strengthen their connection to ʻāina through hands-on learning rooted in STEAM education, traditional Hawaiian practices, and community engagement. Participants will take part in wahi pana exploration, restoration, and stewardship of ʻāina and loko iʻa ecosystems at Kaumaui, Honokea Loko (Keaukaha), and Hilo One.
Program Attendance Commitment Statement:
Due to limited program capacity, families who enroll their keiki are expected to commit to full participation for the entire week of the program. Consistent attendance is essential to ensure equitable access for all participants. Failure to comply with this attendance commitment may jeopardize eligibility for future program enrollment.
Our Program Coordinator, Nāhōkū Kahana (puakahinano@huihooleimaluo.com), will follow up with ʻohana and confirm participant placement within two weeks of registration.

Kaumaui Loko is turning 5yo and we invite you to come down and celebrate with us as we host Hui Hoʻoleimaluō’s 2026 Tilapia Tourney happening February 14-16. Many hands have passed thru our gates to help transform this ʻāina into a meaningful outdoor learning environment and we would like to invite everyone who can to come down and have some fun with your family and friends while we relax and have some fun holoholo in these ponds. Besides the time spent with each other, you’ll also be contributing to the eradication of the number 1 invasive species here - Tilapia!
Bamboo pole? Full setup? Chrow net? Chree-prong? No matter your holoholo, sign up and come down!
We hope to see you and the ʻohana in February to hang out and help in our operation eradication
