Papahana Puakahīnano Educational Engagement

Hui Hoʻoleimaluō is an organization focusing on loko iʻa (Hawaiian fishpond) restoration in the ahupuaʻa of Waiākea on the South East Island of Hawaii. Our work includes restoring native flora and fauna of the area, increasing cultural resources, and creating STEAM experiences that allow participants to build the skills needed to further pursue local STEAM studies.

During our Fall, Spring and Summer breaks, Papahana Puakahīnano offers a selective programming opportunity focusing on ʻOihana Kūpuna or Ancestral Practices such as Loko iʻa, Mahiʻai, Hana Imu, and Holowaʻa just to name a few
